Minister of Agriculture of Armenia Ignaty Arakelyan received the program manager of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) for North Africa and Europe, Rami Salman, who arrived in Armenia to control the component of the "Program for the Promotion of Rural and Infrastructure Financing."
According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ignaty Arakelyan presented programs implemented in the agricultural sector of the Republic of Armenia. The Minister also stressed the need to train qualified personnel, noting that, in this context, the experience and professional skills of IFAD specialists can be useful.
Rami Salman, in turn, expressed readiness to develop and implement new programs that will be in tune with the current priorities and tasks of the Armenian agrosphere. In order to form a stronger cooperation with the Fund, a decision was made to create a joint working group that will develop new programs aimed at further development of the country's agrosphere.
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) was founded in 1977 (the HQ of IFAD is in Rome (Italy)). IFAD is a specialized UN organization whose main goal is to fight poverty in rural areas of developing countries. The Republic of Armenia has joined IFAD in 1993 and is on the list of developed countries.
Programs implemented in Armenia with the support of IFAD: 2 "Program for creating agricultural opportunities" 2 "Market opportunities for farmers" 3 "Realization of the program of economic development of rural territories" 4 "The program of agricultural services" 5 "Northwest Agricultural Services Program" 6 "Irrigation System Restoration Program".
