ArmInfo. The price of Russian natural gas supplies to Armenia during 2018 will remain at $ 150 per 1,000 cubic meters. The draft decision on amendments to the agreement of December 2, 2013 between the Armenian and Russian governments on the procedure for forming prices for Russian gas supplies is included in the agenda of the upcoming November 30 meeting of the Armenian government.
As noted in the document's rationale, taking into account the need to develop energy markets and gas transportation infrastructures, ensure reliable gas supply, and based on the interests of maintaining a stable economic state, Gazprom Armenia, which is a backbone enterprise for the RA economy, is proposed in an intergovernmental agreement to replace the words December 31, 2017 - December 31, 2018. This norm means that the price of Russian gas for Armenia until the end of 2018 will remain unchanged.
Earlier, on October 24, in Yerevan, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, in a joint briefing with Armenian counterpart Karen Karapetyan in the Armenian government, stated that the special gas price for Armenia will continue in 2018. "A decision has been made, which is probably of key importance for the Armenian economy: it is to keep a special price for Armenia for the next year, despite the fact that before that we agreed on an exit on slightly different parameters. I think it will contribute to the improvement of the overall economic and investment situation in Armenia," Medvedev said.
At present, Russia is the main supplier of natural gas to Armenia, supplied by transit through the territory of Georgia. According to the indicative balance sheet annually approved between the parties, the Russian Federation without customs clearance delivers to Armenia about 2-2.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
