ArmInfo. Electricity production in Armenia in Jan-Oct 2017 amounted to 5991.4 million kWh, with an annual growth of 5.4% (against a decline of 6.3% a year earlier). Only in October energy generation decreased by 8.7% to 567.8 million kWh.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, in Jan-Oct 2017, TPPs increased the generation of electricity by 24% per annum - up to 2206.4 million kWh. At the same time, the HPPs reduced electricity generation by 2.2% to 1960 million kWh and the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant by 2.8% to 2145.1 million kWh. During the reporting period, 64.2 thousand gigajoules of thermal energy were produced, with an annual growth of 20%. Other sources produced 1.5 million kWh of electricity during the reporting period, which is 25% higher than the figure of a year ago.
For the whole of 2016 the power generation in Armenia was 7315.2 million kWh, with an annual decline of 6.2%. TPPs reduced electricity generation by 7.8%, Armenian NPP - by 14.6%, thermal energy production fell by 43.7%, and against this background, a modest growth rate of HPP generation by 6.6% could not bring the dynamics of the energy complex to ascending trend.
