ArmInfo. The volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in January-November 2017 to the same period of the previous year increased by 36.5% - up to 25 066.6 thousand tons. Of these, 21 095.8 thousand tons (84.2% of the total) accounted for road transport, which increased by 44.6% year-on-year. This is evidenced by the data of the National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia.
According to statistical data, rail freight traffic for the reporting period increased by 0.8% - up to 2 399.8 thousand tons. Air transportation also increased - by 29.6% - to 20.6 thousand tons. The main pipeline supplied 1,550.4 thousand tons of natural gas, which is 12.6% more than the same period last year. Freight turnover increased by 10.4% - up to 3 755.1 million ton-km.
Passenger traffic for the reporting period decreased by 3.2% - to 182,870.6 thousand people. With the reduction of road transport by 4.1% - up to 160 364.8 thousand people. At the same time, the transportation of passengers by electric transport increased by 2.2% to 19,817 thousand people. In particular, passenger transportation by rail increased by 4.5% to 341.6 thousand people, and by air - by 21.9% - to 2 347.2 thousand people. Passenger traffic increased by 2.5% to 2,438 million passengers-km.
