ArmInfo. In the next few weeks, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies of Armenia will monitor the impact of rising prices for liquefied gas and diesel fuel on the cost of transportation services. This January 15 at the meeting of the Armenian parliament the first deputy minister of transport, communications and information technologies of the RA Gagik Grigoryan stated.
According to him, the specific weight of fuel has a significant impact on the cost of road transport. In the end, the deputy minister continued, this will depend on the investments of private companies. If the return on investment is zero, the opportunity for a rise in the price of services will increase significantly, and vice versa. At present, the Ministry is working on the methodology.
In his turn, the vice-speaker of the Armenian parliament Michael Melkumyan reminded that at present 25 thousand taxi drivers work in Armenia, only part of which is officially registered. If at the moment one taxi driver earns 3-4 thousand drams a day, then with the excise duty on liquefied gas this amount will decrease to 1 thousand AMD. In many families, taxi drivers are breadwinners, and rising prices will lead to their impoverishment.
