ArmInfo. Armenia is going to simplify administration in the construction sector. The corresponding instruction was announced by the Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan at a Government meeting on January 18.
The Prime Minister noted that in 2017, growth was recorded in the construction sector of Armenia. "We expect an increase in growth rates in the near future," he said. At the same time, Karapetyan recalled, the last Doing Business report ("Doing Business") published by the World Bank touched upon the issue of granting permits in the construction sector and fixed a number of problems in connection with which, in November 2017, relevant instructions were given. Simultaneously, following the results of studies and meetings with developers, the need for simplification and concretization of administration in the construction sector, as well as requirements stipulated by regulatory and legal acts of the sphere, was identified. With this in mind, the Prime Minister instructed the Minister of Territorial Administration and Development, the Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Development, the heads of the regional administrations and the Mayor of Yerevan to develop a package of proposals on clarifying the administration procedures in the authorized bodies of the construction sector within a month. In addition, the prime minister suggested that within 10 days they hold discussions with developers and investors to listen to their demands. "We expect some activity in the construction sector in 2018, and we should listen to the developers' opinion as much as possible in order to understand what is hampering them." It is also necessary to establish a very clear and simplistic mechanism that will eliminate multidirectional interpretations, "the Prime Minister concluded.
