Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan during the meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Armenia Tian Erlong, underscored the importance of further development of economic relations with China and noted that the Armenian side is interested in intensifying and expanding cooperation with Chinese investors. According to Karapetyan, the relevant regimes and environment created in the country are favorable for the implementation of new investment projects in Armenia. "I am convinced that joint work can give a new impetus to the expansion of the presence of Chinese capital in the economy of Armenia," the head of the executive body of Armenia said.
The ambassador noted that Armenia's economic indicators in 2017 create favorable conditions for new successes, expansion of economic contacts. "We have excellent opportunities for the development of bilateral cooperation." The trade turnover between Armenia and China in January-November 2017 recorded a significant increase (by 34.5%) compared to the same period in 2016, which gives a good momentum for the activation of bilateral contacts, " said Erlong.
At the same time, he stressed that the Chinese government is ready to expand and deepen cooperation with Armenia on specific programs. At the same time, the ambassador informed that $ 15 million was allocated for the construction of the Chinese school in Yerevan, the program on updating the car park of the RA first aid will be continued this year at the initiative of the Chinese side.
The interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues related to the implementation of projects in such areas as industry, processing of agricultural products, information technology, road construction, tourism.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and China in January-November 2017 was $ 548.3 million, an increase of 34.5% compared to the same period in 2016. Export amounted to $ 110.2 million, an increase of 25.65 compared to the same period in 2016, imports - $ 438.1 million, an increase of 37%.
