ArmInfo. In the relations between Armenia and Belarus there is a great untapped potential for deepening bilateral relations. On February 2, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan said during the meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Andrei Kobyakov on the margins of the Eurasian intergovernmental council in Almaty, the RA government's press office reported.
Karen Karapetyan noted with satisfaction that the trade turnover between Armenia and Belarus grew by 20% over the same period of 2016 as compared with the same period in 2016, and it is necessary to support the positive trends emerging between the two countries.
The RA Prime Minister informed his Belarusian counterpart about the opportunities for the recently opened free economic zone "Meghri" on the Armenian-Iranian border, noting that it may be of interest for the Belarusian business, and in particular for enterprises engaged in agriculture.
The interlocutors discussed the possibilities of deepening cooperation in a number of areas, in particular, in such areas as livestock, information technologies, etc. In this context, the importance of effective work of the intergovernmental commission was stressed.
During the meeting, issues related to cooperation within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union were also raised.
