ArmInfo. In January 2018, the metallurgical industry of Armenia reduced production volumes by 10.5% by January 2017, against a 2% decline in the previous year. According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, in January 2018 the production of ferromolybdenum in Armenia in comparison with the same period of the last year decreased by 41.4%, amounting to 345 tons, against growth of 23.7% a year earlier.
During the reporting period, the production of molybdenum concentrate increased by 0.9% to 957 tons, against growth of 4.9% a year earlier. The production of converter (rough) copper increased by 13.9% - to 1,239 tones, against the decline of 5.4% a year earlier. The production of copper concentrate fell by 11% to 28.2 thousand tones, against a decline of 2.6% a year earlier. The production of zinc concentrate increased 2.1 times in January 2018 - up to 773 tons, instead of 57.1% decline the year before.
Production of aluminum foil in January 2018 compared to the same period last year increased by 18.8% - to 3,151 tons, compared to 14.3% growth a year earlier.
All metals produced in Armenia are exported, mainly to Europe and the USA.
In January statistics of the current year there are no data on the production of aluminum rolled products and molybdenum briquettes, but there are data on steel pipes.
For 2017, the metallurgical industry of Armenia increased production by 11.3% per annum, against the 11.1% decline for 2016. In particular, the production of ferromolybdenum increased by 1.1%, molybdenum concentrate by 2.8%, copper concentrate grew by 10.3% in 2017, aluminum foil by 14.4%, aluminum rolled products up to 543 tons, steel pipes - by 36.2%, zinc concentrate - by 22.2%. At the same time, the production of converter (rough) copper declined by 6.7% in 2017.
