The Minister of Agriculture Artur Khachatryan and the coordinator of the strategic programs of the Regional Bureau of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) for Europe and Central Asia Raymond Yale discussed the programs implemented in the field of agriculture in Armenia, with the assistance of the organization.
According to the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Agriculture, Yale confirmed the readiness of the FAO to continue promoting the implementation of programs aimed at the development of agriculture and communities of the Republic of Armenia.
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture, in turn, presented the priorities of the Armenian government in the sphere. In particular, as he pointed out, the Cabinet is aimed at facilitating small-scale farming, expanding the territory of cultivated land, and introducing a system of drip irrigation and anti-hail networks.
The parties also noted the importance of developing cooperation and the unification of small and medium- sized farms, including issues of assisting the export of local agricultural products. They also touched upon the need to improve the consulting services and the development of organic agriculture.
