ArmInfo.Armenian tax inspectors check not only "Yerevan City but all supermarkets of the country, Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia David Ananyan announced on August 23 in a conversation with journalists, commenting on rumors that only in supermarkets belonging to the family of the Armenian parliament member, former member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Samvel Aleksanyan were revealed hidden taxes.
According to him, inspections continue in other supermarkets of the country. At the same time, the head of the department has ruled out the possibility of continuing the previous practice of selling agricultural products through establishing individual entrepreneurs. "There is no such practice and can not be, I rule it out," he assured.
Davit Ananyan also responsibly declares that in the last year in the company owned by Samvel Aleksanyan, not a single case was recorded when raw sugar imported from abroad was registered as produced in the republic. "Ananyan added that there is no legal justification for conducting revision of earlier documentation.
To note, the opponents of Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan earlier accused the new authorities that tax inspectors are checking only those supermarkets whose owners have any relation with the former authorities.
To recall, on May 30 the National Security Service of Armenia announced the disclosure of the scheme by which large retail chains evaded taxes for years. By establishing numerous individual entrepreneurs, Alex Holding LLC instead of VAT at a rate of 20% and the profit tax paid only the turnover tax (2%), documenting the goods on fake individual entrepreneurs. As reported by the NSS, according to reliable data, the previous leadership had given a similar opportunity to 11 other large companies involved in chain trading, which created obviously unfavorable and unequal competitive conditions for other enterprises involved in agricultural trade, who paid VAT. "Therefore, the latter is invited to independently recalculate unpaid taxes on the above schemes and provide relevant information to the preliminary investigation to resolve the issue of compensation for damage within the production," - said in a statement of the department. Already on August 1, in response to a request from ArmInfo, SRC said that the additional tax liabilities amounting to 5.2 billion drams (about $ 10.7 million), presented to Alex Holding, owned by the family of a member of the Armenian parliament, ex-member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Samvel Aleksanyan, have been completely restored. According to the information, in the investigation of the criminal case investigated by the Investigation Department of the National Security Service of Armenia, Alex Holding was charged with checking the accuracy of the relationship with the budget. As a result of a joint inspection of various units of the SRC, under the verification act of July 26, 2018, the company was presented with additional tax liabilities amounting to 5.2 billion drams (VAT and income tax) payable to the state budget.
