The volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in January-July 2018 to the same period in 2017 increased by 10.4% (against growth of 46.5% a year earlier), amounting to 16 926.9 thousand tons. Of these, 14 266.9 thousand tons (84.3% of the total) accounted for road transport with an annual growth of 12.4%. This is evidenced by the data of the National Statistical Service of Armenia.
According to statistical data, rail freight traffic for the reporting period increased by 5.6% - to 1 672.1 thousand tons. Air transportation, on the contrary, decreased - by 25.4% - to 9.4 thousand tons. The main pipeline supplied 978.5 thousand tons of natural gas, which is 6.5% less than the same period last year. Freight turnover decreased by 1.4% - up to 2 437.2 million tons-km.
Passenger traffic for the reporting period decreased by 7.9%, against a decline of 3.4% in the past year, amounting to 106 306.2 thousand people. With the increase in rail transportation by 9.6% - to 208.3 thousand people, air - by 11% to 1,525.6 thousand people and transportation of passengers by electric transport - by 11.6% to 13,403.2 thousand people, passenger motor transport decreased by 10.5% - to 91,169.1 thousand people. Passenger turnover decreased by 5.5% - to 1,415.8 million passengers-km.
