ArmInfo. There are numerous problems in the energy sector of Armenia, which are not so obvious, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated yesterday, answering the questions of citizens during a live broadcast on his Facebook page.
As an example, he cited the fact that for the export of electricity from Armenia to Georgia, a company was established that received benefits, as well as profit from the deal, which as a result was not received by the state. As another example, he pointed at the Yerevan TPP, which, through its activities, repays the debts of a third company that is not related to the system. He noted that the government has already made certain changes in tariffs for gas and electricity for certain social groups, reducing them by 10 and 20 drams, respectively. In addition, the Prime Minister said that he had set up a working group that is studying the justification of tariffs for energy carriers - gas and electricity.
According to him, the main task in the sector is establishing order and common rules, and as for the tariffs - they should not be high or low, but effective. "I understand the logic of the desire to reduce the tariff, but I would suggest considering the issue from a different point of view - it is necessary to have an effective tariff for gas and electricity in order to be confident in its formation in the framework of productive market logic," Pashinyan said.
