ArmInfo. Tourism in many respects can contribute to the development of investment detail of Polish business in Armenia. Such an opinion at the official meeting with representatives of the public and private sectors at the Polish Embassy in Armenia on October 4 was expressed by Marek Reshuta, head of the economic and political department of the Polish Embassy in Armenia.
He explained that today, due to the high cost of air travel from Warsaw to Yerevan, the Polish tourist enters Armenia exclusively through Georgia, since the flight costs him only $ 50-60, while choosing Armenian airlines - the amount reaches $ 300. Tour packages include a 5-day vacation in Georgia, during which tourists can get acquainted with the peculiarities of the country and think about business development. <I'm not saying that after visiting absolutely everyone will want to justify a business in the Georgian market, but out of 1000 tourists, 30 businessmen will definitely think about it>. According to the diplomat, the Polish tourists will have pleasant impressions from the trip to Armenia, in particular about the kitchen, but no more. "It's impossible to see the country's potential in just a day and a half," he stressed.
Nevertheless, as M. Reshut stressed, Armenia has all the opportunities for the development of various areas of tourism, ranging from gastronomic, to agritourism. In particular, taking into account the acute need of Europeans for the consumption of eco-products, Armenia could pay special attention to the development of this direction.
According to the RA Statistics Committee, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Poland in January-August reached $ 34.2 million, with a growth of 5.5%. In particular, exports increased by 10.2% to $ 6 million, while imports grew by 4.5% to $ 28.2 million. In 2017, the volume of Armenian-Polish trade increased by 6.8% to $ 58.6 million. At the same time, exports showed a decline by 56.7% to $ 8.1 million, while imports increased by 39.8% to $ 50.5 million.
