ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan intends to discuss the price of Russian natural gas with Vladimir Putin. This was announced by the newly appointed Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of the Republic of Armenia Garegin Baghramian. The conversation of the Prime Minister with the Minister was broadcast on the official page of the head of the Armenian government on Facebook.
Nikol Pashinyan noted that he intends to meet with the Russian president in November and in December and discuss with him, among other issues, the price of gas. "I'm getting ready to meet with Putin in November and presumably in December. Prepare documents for me regarding gas prices so that I could discuss them, "said the chairman of the government of the republic.
In turn, Baghramyan expressed the opinion that the tariffs for Russian gas can be reduced to $ 140 from $ 150 per thousand cubic meters.
"The document must be justified," Pashinyan replied. On September 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan agreed at the meeting held in Moscow to work out pricing issues for Russian gas supplies, Pashinyan told TASS correspondent after talking with entrepreneurs of Armenian origin working in Russia. "In fact, gas comes from Russia to Armenia at a rather low price. But the problem is that consumers get this gas at double price. And we need to, we talked about this with President Putin, we need to understand how this new double price is created. You need to look and understand how the pricing process is going and make this mechanism more efficient so that the conditions are more favorable. We agreed with Mr Putin that we will work together on this, "said Pashinyan.
He explained that the gas from Gazprom is acquired by a subsidiary of Gazprom Armenia, which determines the tariffs within the country. Earlier, Pashinyan noted that Russia sells gas to Armenia at low prices, but "the consumer does not feel this," and did not rule out that this could be due to poor management or corruption. Before meeting with the Armenian Prime Minister, Putin reminded journalists that Gazprom supplies gas to the republic at one of the lowest tariffs in the world - $ 150 per 1,000 cubic meters.
Earlier, the now former Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of Armenia, Artur Grigoryan, stated that the negotiations on prices for Russian gas between the two countries will be held in November. He stressed that Yerevan will not stop looking for ways to purchase cheap gas for Armenian consumers.
