ArmInfo. The office of Acting Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan denies media information that Avinyan received a letter from Russian counterpart Dmitry Kozak about the decision to increase the price of natural gas exported by Russia to Armenia to $ 215 per 1000 kBm from January 1, 2019.
The statement of Avinyan's office, in particular, reads: "Regarding the price of gas exported by Russia to Armenia, there is no solution yet, the RA government did not receive any letter from Kozak, it simply does not exist. However, a telephone conversation took place between Kozak and Avinyan, during which the format of the negotiations and its stages. The negotiations on gas prices with Russian counterpartsare held in an environment of mutual understanding and trust. During the negotiations, no ultimatums were and could not be presented. "
To note, today the media reported that Avinyan received a letter from Kozak, stating that from January 1, 2019 the price of Russian gas for Armenia on the border from the current $ 150 for 1000 kBm will be raised to $ 215. According to the media, the letter also emphasized that this issue is no longer subject to discussion.
Meanwhile, earlier Acting Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Garegin Baghramyan told reporters that the negotiations around the price for Russian gas is still ongoing, and until a final decision is reached, Armenia will continue to receive gas from Russia at the current tariff.
We also recall that after being appointed premier of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan assured that there is a possibility of lowering the price of Russian gas for Armenia, and he intends to discuss this issue with counterparts from the Russian Federation.
