ArmInfo. Davos meetings of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan can contribute to the growth of commodity turnover between Armenia and a number of countries, and further growth of investments in our economy. Armenia's Chairman of the Union of Employers of Armenia Gagik Makaryan expressed the similar opinion to ArmInfo.
On 21-25, the 49th World Economic Forum was held in Davos, Switzerland. Unlike his predecessor, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited Serzh Sargsyan, during 10 years of government that never attended the forum, Davos, at the invitation of the organizers. The Prime Minister shared with the participants of the summit his own vision of the establishment of democracy and the main vectors of the development of Armenia, and also held a number of meetings with the heads of state and major transnational corporations. "In Davos, the Prime Minister held meetings with several colleagues and leaders of major corporations and they were all informed about the state of affairs, opportunities opening up for foreign business in Armenia. He demonstrated the achievements of the velvet revolution, the first results of the fight against corruption. In other words, once again shared with our colleagues the investment attractiveness of our country, "Makaryan said.
The expert emphasized that many transnational corporations pay special attention to studies of the investment attractiveness of a country to the degree of effectiveness of the realization of human rights and fundamental freedoms there. In this light, in his estimation, the rather successful struggle for the observance and realization of these rights in Armenia creates quite good prerequisites for the implementation of fairly large investment projects.
To note, according to the estimates of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, in the Q3 of last year, in comparison with the third quarter of 2017, foreign direct investment in Armenia increased by 50%. At the same time, according to the data of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, the inflow of FDI to the real economy for 9 months of 2018 amounted to 59.8 billion drams compared to 57 billion drams for the same period of 2017
On January 29, in an interview with RBC, Pashinyan outlined the sectors of the Armenian economy that attracted the attention of investors: the textile industry, technological production, the IT sector, agriculture, and the processing of agricultural products. As a very promising industry, the prime minister noted renewable energy. At the same time, according to him, the main investors in Armenia so far are businessmen from the Armenian Diaspora of Russia, the USA and Europe
