ArmInfo. A negotiation to reduce the price of Russian gas continues. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated this in an interview with TASS.
"Negotiations are underway, and I hope that this year we will be able to resolve this issue, because it is important not only for the development of bilateral relations with Russia, but also for the EAEU as a whole. After all, the essence of the EAEU is to create a single economic space "he said.
According to the Armenian Prime Minister, in order for this single economic space to take place, it is necessary that the prices of energy carriers, which have a very important share in the structure of production costs, are equal. "If, for example, the cost of the same products will be much higher in Armenia due to higher energy prices than, for example, in Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, then it will hit, in fact, the EAEU. Therefore, it is very important to emphasize that we are discussing this topic not only with our Russian colleagues, but also at meetings of the Supreme Economic and Intergovernmental Councils of the EAEU, as well as in other formats, "the head of the Armenian government stressed.
To recall, head of Gazprom Alexey Miller and Acting Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, Mher Grigoryan, signed the supplementary agreement to the gas supply contract of Gazprom Armenia CJSC (gas distribution organization of the country, 100% of Gazprom) on December 31. The price of gas for Armenia on the border with Georgia since the beginning of 2019 has increased by 10% - to $ 165 per thousand cubic meters. As Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said earlier, the Government of Armenia is not going to subsidize the price of gas, and no assets will be transferred in return. Nevertheless, he assured, in 2019 the price of gas for consumers of Armenia will not change. According to him, Armenia agreed with Gazprom on preserving the domestic gas tariff. Gazprom CJSC Armenia is a 100% subsidiary of Gazprom PJSC, providing for the supply and sale of natural gas in the domestic market of the Republic of Armenia. The Gas Transportation System (GTS) serves 1,682.2 km of main gas pipelines and branch pipelines. As part of the gas distribution system, 15,116 km of high, medium and low pressure gas pipelines and auxiliary facilities are currently serviced.
