ArmInfo. Millions of dollars were invested in the implementation of the North-South Road construction project, while it has no impact on the Armenian economy. On March 27, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said this from the rostrum of the parliament, answering the question of the MP from the "My Step" faction Shirak Torosyan.
The lawmaker raised the question of the possibility of building the Ninotsminda (Georgia) - Bavra (Armenia) highway, which is in a catastrophic situation. Its construction, according to Shirak Torosyan, is in the interests of the two states.
In response, Nikol Pashinyan, referring to the latest data from the Georgian side, noted that tender procedures for this project are underway there. Nevertheless, the Prime Minister believes that the issue should be considered in a wider sense, and in this context, strategic planning is important. For example, there is still no agreement with Georgia on the construction of the North-South road. "It's all the same if building a road from one village to another," the head of government noted. He pointed to the fact that a magnificent road had been built up to Gogavan, but because of bad roads in Georgia no one uses it. And, on the contrary, to the Bagratashen checkpoint on the territory of Armenia the road is in a terrible state, and in Georgia on this section it is magnificent. All this, as Nikol Pashinyan noted, indicates the absence of a strategic planning system
