ArmInfo.The "Catherine Group" Co. Ltd. enterprise, owned by former MP from the Republican Party of the National Assembly of Armenia and former Chief Compulsory Officer of Judicial Acts (chief bailiff) of Armenia Mihran Poghosyan, whose name appeared in the center of an offshore scandal, on 29 March was declared bankrupt by the court. This is stated on the official website of the RA Justice.
The company was declared bankrupt at the request of the transport and logistics company Alliance Logistics LLC. The latter applied to the court, saying that "Catherine Group" Co. Ltd. owed Alliance Logistics LLC for services rendered 6.832.857 drams, which it had pledged to pay before December 3, 2018.
According to the source, "Catherine Group" Co. Ltd. submitted an objection to the court against the claim, according to which the company claims that since the authorized administrative bodies of the Republic of Armenia imposed bans, the company was not able to fulfill its obligations for objective reasons.
"The court finds that the "Catherine Group" Co. Ltd. has signs of bankruptcy, which is why it considers it proper to fulfill the lender's requirement," the source said.
The first meeting of the founders will take place on July 1. Arsen Babayan, arbitration manager Tigran Sahakyan acted as a judge in the bankruptcy case of"Catherine Group" Co. Ltd..
To note, the "Catherine Group" Co. Ltd. was founded in 1997. Its main activity at that time was the import and sale of fruits in Armenia through its own distribution network. The company also imports and sells nitrogen, nitrogen-phosphorus and other mineral fertilizers in Armenia and Artsakh, is engaged in animal husbandry and other activities. In many import positions, the company was an artificial monopolist. Its owner turned out to be a defendant in the offshore Panama scandal in 2016, but being a close person to Serzh Sargsyan, he was not particularly affected by the consequences of the scandal, only by resigning from the post of Chief Compulsory Officer of Judicial Acts of RA.
