Thus, according to Wende, in December 2001, the Armenian government  signed with the Argentine company "Corporacion America", owned by  Eduardo Eurnekian, about the concession management of the Zvartnots  airport for a period of 30 years. "In 2002, we received the airport  in very poor condition," he said.  In 2004, the concessionaire began  repairing and modernizing the air harbor and already in 2007 we had a  completely modern and new airport. In 2008, a similar agreement was  signed in relation to the Shirak airport. "The same work was done in  the Gyumri airport," he noted. "In 2007, we acquired Converse Bank.   Today, the Bank is one of the leading financial institutions in  Armenia with 35 branches," a representative of Corporacion America  said. Two years later, the company received a concessionary  management of Armpost and repaired 250 branches, turning it into a  modern structure, Wende said. "We are investing in real estate, in  particular, we acquired the building of the Foreign Ministry in  Yerevan and in many other projects. As a result, we are today one of  the major investors and taxpayers in Armenia," Marcelo Wende noted.

Corporacion America is an Argentine holding company that owns a  number of renewable energy assets, including wind power plants, in  Latin America.

Earlier, ArmInfo reported thatArmenia International Airports company  will invest $ 38.2 million in upgrading Zvartnots airport in Yerevan  and Shirak airport in Gyumri. The RA government approved a master  plan for 2018-2022 at the December 27 meeting of last year. ,  represented by the concessionaire in the face of the Argentine  company "Corporacion America". As Minister of Transport,  Communication and Information Technologies Hakob Arshakyan noted  then, in accordance with the plan, due to the projected growth in  passenger traffic, it will be necessary to make investments to expand  the runway, equip additional aircraft hangars, upgrade the apron  coverage, and modernize the lighting systems. In particular, the  length of the runway will be increased to 2,850 meters, and the width  to 65 meters. It is also planned to lay 12 km of fiber optic cables  and install the latest video surveillance systems. At the airport  "Shirak" it is planned to modernize the apron, a part of the airfield  for receiving aircraft of greater carrying capacity, which will make  it possible to take off and land with Boeing and Airbus class  aircraft. In total it is necessary to modernize an area of 22  thousand square meters. In 2016-2017 traffic volumes through Gyumri  airport "Shirak" increased 8-fold. Currently, about 105 thousand air  passengers use the airport services annually. Basically,  transportation is carried out by low-cost airlines, in particular,  the Russian airline Pobeda. The project will allow to receive and  send larger aircraft. The implementation of the master plan will make  it possible to bring the main air ports of Armenia in line with the  standards of ICAO - the international civil aviation organization.
