Armenia`s Minister of Economy held a meeting with a number of  international donors implementing programs in the field of winemaking  and viticulture

ArmInfo.Armenian Minister of Economy Tigran Khachatryan met yesterday with a number of international donors implementing programs in the field of winemaking  and viticulture.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy of the  Republic of Armenia, during the shirt- sleeve meeting, open  discussions took place on the prospects for the further development  of the field of winemaking and viticulture. The Executive Director of  the Vine and Wine Foundation Zaruhi Muradyan, briefly presented the  programs implemented in the field, pointing out the main problems and  obstacles.  The GIZ Country Director Anne Dorit Kempa presented  initiatives implemented by the structure, among which an important  component is education, and among the key points of these initiatives  she identified assistance in the development of wine tourism.

The rector of the Armenian National Agrarian University, Vardan  Urutyan, in turn, stressed the importance of improving agricultural  education, training highly qualified specialists and effective use of  scientific potential in this area.

The representatives of the wine companies present at the meeting  shared their views on the role of the state in the sequential  development of the wine industry.

Earlier, the press service of the largest grape buyer in the country,  the Yerevan Brandy Company, reported that in 2019 the company will  purchase 29,000 tons of grapes at a price of 150 drams (about $ 0.3)  per 1 kg. "Going to meet the request of growers and in continuation  of the obligation to revise the time of the announcement of the  purchase price, Yerevan Brandy Company announces that this year it  will purchase grapes of 150 drams per 1 kg, which is 10 drams higher  than last year's price, "the company said. Yerevan Brandy Company  announces the price exclusively for its enterprise and is not  responsible for other manipulative statements. "This year the company  will purchase 29,000 tons of grapes. Remaining true to its policy,  the Yerevan Brandy Factory organizes the purchasing process  absolutely transparently and as comfortable as possible for  winegrowers, "the plant noted. Payments to the growers will be made  within 3- 4 days after the grapes were handed over by transferring  the amount to the bank accounts of farmers opened by the company.
