ArmInfo. On July 24, Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan received the delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, headed by the head of the Armenian office of the EBRD Dmitry Gvindadze.
As the press service of the vice-premier's office reports, the main topic of the meeting was a discussion of the new strategy of cooperation between the EBRD and Armenia for 2019-2024. The parties exchanged views on cooperation, consonant with the country's development priorities for the next 5 years. Dmitry Gvindadze presented to Avinyan the framework, scope and tools of cooperation provided by the Bank to the private sector.
It was noted that the key areas of cooperation with the EBRD will be improving the competitiveness of the private sector, improving management and promoting business environment reforms, as well as sustainable development of infrastructures.
The EBRD is one of the leading institutional investors in Armenia. Since the start of EBRD activities in Armenia, namely, since 1992, to this day, the bank has invested more than 1,241 million euros in 171 projects in the financial, infrastructure, energy and corporate sectors of the country. Moreover, about 84% of these projects are in the private sector, an investment package of 310 million euros is in the process of implementation.
In March of this year. President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Suma Chakrabarti at a meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that in the new cooperation strategy with Armenia, an important place will be given to programs to support small and medium-sized businesses.
