The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has confirmed its commitment to implementing development programs in the fields of energy, public infrastructures, water systems, waste management and a number of other areas. This was stated by EBRD Vice President Jurgen Rigterink during a meeting with RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Suren Papikyan.
According to the press service of the Ministry, Jurgen Rigterink also shared with the minister his impressions of the fruitful changes recorded in the country after the velvet revolution. "We are impressed by the continuous credibility of the Armenian government, the significant changes in the lives of citizens and, in general, the development of the country lately," he said.
In turn, Suren Papikyan, emphasizing the high level of cooperation with EBRD in various fields, noted that successful joint programs will now gain new scope and expand their geography in the context of structural changes and expanding the areas of activity of the ministry. "We reaffirm our readiness at the current high level of relations to seek and implement new facets of interaction," the minister said.
At the same time, during the discussions, the head of the department also outlined promising projects for possible cooperation with the Bank in the direction of effective land management, development of organic agriculture, construction of reservoirs, and the formation of a coordinated transport network.
To recall, from the beginning of its activity in Armenia, EBRD allocated ? 1.36 billion to the country's economy to implement 178 programs in the energy, infrastructure, financial and corporate sectors. 90% of the Bank's investments are in the private sector.
