ArmInfo. The Enterprise Incubator Foundation and the Ethiopian Ministry of Innovation and Technology have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Addis Ababa, under which the parties will cooperate in high technology, engineering, and innovation.
As part of the cooperation, it is planned to introduce a model of an engineering city at the Center for Talented and Gifted Children in Ethiopia.
The memorandum was signed by the Minister of Innovation and Technology of Ethiopia Getaun Mekuria and the head of the business development program of the Enterprise Incubator Foundation Amalia Yeghoyan.
In the framework of the new cooperation, technological skills development projects will be carried out, R&D laboratories will be created, experience exchange programs will be implemented to encourage the development of an innovative ecosystem in both countries. According to Amalia Yeghoyan, the signing of a direct memorandum with the Ethiopian Ministry of Innovation and Technology was a pleasant surprise.
''Before the visit, it was planned that the memorandum would be signed with the Ethiopian University of Addis Ababa, but upon arrival we were informed that Minister Mekuria wants the memorandum to be signed with the Ministry. This was due to the fact that the minister really attaches importance to the initiative, within the framework of which the city's engineering program will be implemented in this center'', Amalia Yeghoyan noted.
As a special speaker at the invitation of AfriLabs and the African Union, Amalia Yeghoyan made a presentation at the annual meeting of AfriLabs, considered the largest event in the region's innovation ecosystem.
To recall, in April 2019, the Enterprise Incubator Foundation signed a memorandum with the computer science department of Addis Ababa University. The memorandum provides for joint educational, research and academic programs in both countries, cross-country cooperation in the field of information technology, implementation of joint projects, including the introduction of the Armenian's National Engineering Laboratory Model (ANEL) at the University of Addis Ababa.
