ArmInfo."The fact that Armenia has not signed a comprehensive aviation agreement with the EU is exclusively related to Brexit," Tatevik Revazyan, head of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Republic of Armenia (CAC), told reporters on December 16 after a press conference dedicated to the entry of another European low-cost airline, Wizz Air, to the Armenian market.
, she said. At the same time, the head of the CAC noted that he hopes that the agreement will be signed in the first half of 2020. "Thanks to this, we will not have the restrictions that Wizz Air faced when choosing its destinations," she concluded.
To recall, as a result of joining this agreement, a more liberal aviation regime will operate between Armenia and 28 EU countries, which will be used by airlines from Armenia and EU countries.
In addition to ensuring flight safety and certification regulations, the document provides for the removal of restrictions on flights of foreign carriers of Armenia, Armenian - to European countries. This will allow attracting European airlines, in particular, low cost airlines, to Armenia on better conditions. Liberalization will also ensure fair competition at the international level through combination, state aid and regulation of standards. According to the head of the CAC, this means integration into the European aviation market, facilitating the entry of Armenian businessmen into foreign markets, turning Armenia into a transit country in the field of air transport.
Of the member countries of the Eastern Partnership, Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine have already joined the unified aviation sector. Revazyan believes that joining the common European aviation sector will allow Armenia to enter a safe and stable airspace.
