ArmInfo. One should not expect anything special regarding foreign investment in the RA economy in 2020. A similar statement was made by economist, Professor Tatul Manaseryan at a press conference on January 21.
The expert also substantiated his opinion by the lack of activity regarding domestic investments. In particular, Manaseryan complained that none of the representatives of the state management system raised the issue of the need to stimulate primarily local investors.
In this vein, he drew attention to the fact that if an investor intends to invest in the economy of a country, he is primarily interested in whether the citizens of the country invest in the development of the economy. , he said. Such an environment, according to the economist, will help attract foreign investment. "We should be the first to invest in the development of our own country," he emphasized.
According to the information provided by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, over the 9 months of 2019, the net flow of total foreign investments into the real sector of the economy of the Republic of Armenia amounted to about $ 267 million (against -$1 billion a year earlier), of which $ 60 million were direct investments, which is $ 68 million less than a year ago.
Gross foreign investment as of October 1 exceeded $ 20 million (including FDI - $ 9.1 million), in the structure of which the Russian Federation continues to dominate ($ 7.3 million, including FDI - $ 4.4), followed by Germany ($ 2.8 million) and Cyprus ($ 1.4 million).
