He said that the deal to acquire 100% of VEON Armenia shares was finally completed on October 29 this year. In this regard, Yesayan said that VEON Armenia was renamed into Telecom Armenia. "It is extremely important that we are an Armenian company, because now the company's profits will remain in the country," Yesayan stressed, noting that over the past 10 years, the profit and dividends generated in VEON Armenia were sent to the VEON group. From now on, in his words, the financial resources will remain in Armenia and will be directed to the development of new directions of the completely new strategy of the Team Telecom company. Having opened the brackets somewhat, the Yesayan brothers said that according to the new strategy, Team Telecom intends to create small IT companies that will develop new areas of information technology.
With regard to the telecommunications component, the owners of Telecom Armenia reported that in 2021 the quality of the services provided will significantly change. According to the co-founder of Team Telecom, active work is already underway with the new team, and soon new solutions and directions will be announced. In this regard, he pointed to the transit services that the company already provides to the Iraqi market. It was also announced that within 3-5 years the company, according to the investment plan, intends to invest $ 40-60 million in the construction of a new network. During the press conference, the VEON owners also said that the deal to acquire 100% of the shares was financed by Ameriabank. Now, within the framework of the second stage of financing, according to them, Ardshinbank has also joined. "In fact, we are considering the possibility of attracting additional funds from other financial organizations, which is necessary for us today in terms of reducing interest rates and for making new investments," said Alexander Yesayan.
