Formation of common energy markets major factor of EAEU development -  Armenian vice-premier 

ArmInfo.Economic indicators in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union are growing, but in order to form common markets, including in the energy sector, qualitative changes in the nature of trade are needed. Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan announced this on June 4 at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in the Belarusian city of Nesvizh in the Minsk region of Belarus.

According to him, the most important factor in the development of the  EAEU is the issue of creating common energy markets. "We hope for a  constructive approach on the part of the partners, which will allow  us to level out a number of existing differences and record progress  within the framework of practical steps to implement the key  principles laid down in the concept of integration in the Eurasian  space," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

Grigoryan added that the EAEU approached the end of its first decade  with significantly positive economic indicators, "however, achieving  the main goal - the formation of a common market - depends not so  much on the volume indicators of mutual trade of the member states,  but on its qualitative characteristics."

Among other pressing tasks of the EAEU, the Deputy Prime Minister of  Armenia highlighted the development of transport corridors, financial  mechanisms to support projects within the framework of the  association, as well as improving ways to ensure food security.

"We consider it necessary to develop comprehensive approaches to this  issue in order to increase the efficiency of using available  resources, uninterruptedly ensure the availability of food and  eliminate barriers, including transport and logistics," said the RA  Deputy Prime Minister.

The next meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will take  place at the end of September - beginning of October in Yerevan.

The Eurasian Economic Union, the agreement on the establishment of  which was signed in Astana on May 29, 2014, is an international  organization for regional economic integration, whose activities are  aimed at comprehensive modernization, cooperation and increasing the  competitiveness of national economies and creating conditions for  stable development in the interests of increasing the living  standards of the population of states. -members. The EAEU includes  Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
