ArmInfo. The time has come for BRICS and SCO to jointly transform from a unipolar to a multipolar world. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sameep Shastri during his welcoming speech at the opening of the international forum "New Horizons of Cooperation between Armenia and the EAEU with BRICS and SCO" on August 8 in Yerevan.
In this regard, he drew attention to the fact that the above-mentioned integration associations have already switched to trading in national currencies and are moving towards abandoning dollar transactions. Shastri also added that as an Indian, he is proud that his country is the fifth largest economy in the world, its growth continues and by 2030 it can become the third largest economy in the world. At the same time, he called on everyone to follow the same path.
He then touched upon the sanctions policy of the West, and stressed that sanctions are a negative phenomenon, but provide a positive incentive to realize the potential, to break free from the clutches of dependence. As an example, he cited Russia, which is currently under numerous sanctions, and noted that this is a good example to follow in terms of strengthening one's own potential. "The BRICS countries are culturally and geographically different, but they should be united by a green future, especially since the BRICS countries are among the most promising economies. I am sure that over time, BRICS will increase its importance in the global economy. Yesterday we visited the Ararat region, and I saw how dependent Armenia is on agriculture, I saw green fields, which are hard to find in India today. We will consider investment opportunities in Armenia, how India can invest in Armenia, and how Armenia, in turn, can invest in India," Shastri concluded.
In turn, the Chairman of the Russian-Asian Business Council, Advisor to the President of the National Coordination Center for International Business Cooperation Maxim Kuznetsov noted that there are several key areas for the development of cooperation between Armenia, the Russian Federation, BRICS and the SCO. According to him, first of all, this is foreign trade. "The BRICS and SCO countries, like the EAEU, are developing dynamically, and therefore new buyers should be found in these markets. The EAEU is a single market, it is easier there. There are specifics with BRICS and SCO, given that we are talking about different countries and, accordingly, different markets, but the goods may be in demand in local markets," the expert noted. It should be noted that the main goal of the Forum taking place today in Yerevan is to create a platform for a comprehensive discussion and analysis of the possibilities of deepening economic ties between Armenia and the EAEU with the BRICS and SCO countries.
