WCIT2024 officially launched with a focus on Artificial Intelligence

ArmInfo. The World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT2024) has officially commenced. On  October 5, the Karen Demirchyan SCC brought together top experts in the technology industry, both from around the world and locally, to discuss, share ideas and chart the future of artificial intelligence (AI), discuss its benefits and risks. This year's Congress is held under the slogan .

The grand opening was preceded by a press conference featuring Hayk  Karapetyan, the head of WCIT2024 in Armenia, Hayk Yesayan, the  president of the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE) and  a co-organizer of the Congress, Sean Seah, the head of the World  Information Technology and Services Alliance WITSA and Hayk Yesayan,  the CEO of the telecommunications company Team Telecom Armenia.  It  should be noted that the latter acted as a technology partner of  WCIT/DigiTec2024.  During the press conference, Hayk Yesayan,  recalled that WCIT is taking place in Armenia for the second time. He  noted that our country is on track to become a bright spot for the  global IT community.  He emphasized that Team Telecom Armenia, as a  domestic telecommunications company, could not remain on the  sidelines of such a large-scale and important event and had to  provide support for its holding.

According to Yesayan, the congress will help reveal the untapped  potential of our country, which is more than sufficient, but has not  been fully realized. "I believe that the available potential in  Armenia can make a difference in the international trend," the head  of Team Telecom Armenia emphasized. He also mentioned that the event  will help to understand the direction the world is moving towards,  thus, setting a vector for Armenian companies, creating opportunities  for their development and attracting more potential to the country.

In his opening remarks, the Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia  Mkhitar Hayrapetyan stated that Armenia strives to become the most  important regional technological hub and, in the future, to offer the  world new complex technologies and innovative solutions. He drew  attention to the fact that Armenia has long decided to focus its  resources on AI and the development of innovative technologies.

In his welcoming speech, UATE President Alexander Yesayan reflected  on the successful outcome of WCIT in 2019, which was also hosted in  Armenia. He highlighted that following the Congress, many companies  were able to establish platforms for collaboration and investment. In  this regard, Yesayan expressed hope that the current Congress will  serve as a platform for fostering effective cooperation within  technology sector. Additionally, he noted the dual nature of AI,  acknowledging its positive impact across various areas, while also  emphasizing the importance of ensuring that AI really contributes to  the greater good and guarantees the preservation of existing values.  ,  he said.

Note that the Congress will be held in Yerevan from October 5 to 7.  The event will include speeches by renowned speakers, including the  author of the international bestseller "How to Raise a Successful  Person" Esther Wojcicki, founder of the ABBYY group of companies  David Yang, co-founder of Picsart Hovhannes Avoyan, technical  director of TELUS Ibrahim Gedeon and others.  Participants will also  enjoy panel discussions, B2B meetings, business and innovation  exhibitions, seminars and other events. One of the important events  will be the WITSA World Cup (WWC). In total, about 2,000 delegates  from more than 80 countries will visit Armenia.  Recall that in  parallel with WCIT2024, DigiTecEXPO2024 is taking place at the  Meridian Exhibition Center, showcasing the potential of the Armenian  IT sector.
