ArmInfo. Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia David Khudatyan visited Zvartnots Airport to get acquainted with the existing infrastructure and discuss issues related to the operation of the airport's security systems.
As reported by the press service of the department, the Minister was presented with the investments made in Zvartnots International Airport and the work being carried out today.
Khudatyan was accompanied by his deputy Armen Simonyan, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee Mihran Khachatryan, Governor of Armavir Argishti Mekhakyan, General Director of Armaeronavigatsiya CJSC Vardan Chilingaryan, Acting Head of Parakar Community Ludwig Gyulnazaryan.
Back in January 2023, it was said that the management of Zvartnots International Airport proposed to implement a five-year investment program to expand the airport by $350 million. The program will allow serving a much larger number of passengers and increasing the number of flights and destinations.
Earlier, in November 2022, the Airports Council International Europe (ACI EUROPE) announced its readiness to invest 400 million euros to expand the capacity of Zvartnots Airport.
According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, passenger transportation by air in Armenia in 2024 decreased by 0.4% to 5,393.1 thousand people.
