ArmInfo. The healthcare sector is a pioneer in implementing artificial intelligence (AI) into its system, and it is crucial to encourage its integration in various fields and in Armenia, especially in medicine, as stated by Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan at a press conference in Yerevan on June 4.
According to the head of the Ministry of Health, AI is already being used in almost all areas of human activity. She emphasized that in recent years, AI has proven its effectiveness in diagnostics and in other areas, leading to higher quality tests. "In this context, our goal is to encourage technology companies in Armenia to actively participate in this area. We are open to new technological solutions and ready to support their implementation in healthcare," the minister said.
However, Avanesyan noted that there are concerns regarding the use of AI to process medical data, as well as issues of professional involvement. She mentioned the potential for further implementation of AI in the system, pointing out that AI tools are being used in many cases today, such as breast mammography. Avanesyan believes that its further implementation in the system will only yield positive results.
On the other hand, Docus startup founder Robert Sargsyan clarified that the implementation of AI will allow citizens to receive laboratory test results with clear and understandable explanations. Touching on concerns that the use of AI could just become a regular Google search, Sargsyan noted that Google, unlike AI, cannot take into account a person's complete medical history. "The algorithm model used as a basis has passed the examination for a medical license in the United States and has even shown better results than the average doctor," Sargsyan added.
