ArmInfo. The supply of Kazakh grain to Armenia is an example of food diplomacy, as stated by Tobylbek Omarov, Managing Director of JSC NC Food Corporation, according to the company's press service.
"This event is not only economically significant, but also historically important, as it opens up promising opportunities for direct transit and the development of mutual trade. Through the export of Kazakh grain, we are creating new bridges of cooperation and contributing to the restoration of good-neighborly relations, as well as strengthening trust between countries in the region," Tobylbek Omarov noted. He also added that Kazakhstan's national grain operator is ready to supply Armenian consumers with approximately 15,000-20,000 tons of food grain monthly.
In October, Kazakhstan's national grain operator signed a long-term cooperation agreement for grain supplies to Armenian consumers. The pilot batch consists of grade 4 food wheat, which can be used to produce general-purpose flour and animal feed.
Also, Kazakhstan has the ability to export grain of various grades, including durum wheat and high-protein wheat (hi-pro). Kazakh wheat is traditionally valued for its quality and excellent baking properties. In many partner countries, it is often used as a milling improver, making the grain in demand among foreign processors and allowing it to compete in the global market. Government support measures for grain exports ensure supplies on mutually beneficial terms. In 2025, the Food Contract Corporation will actively export Kazakhstani wheat abroad - to countries in Central Asia, the Caucasus (Azerbaijan, Georgia), the Middle East (Iran), North Africa (Algeria, Morocco), and Southeast Asia (Vietnam), as well as to China.
The national grain operator is currently negotiating with new Armenian partners interested in stable supplies of Kazakhstani wheat. Grain shipment volumes to Yerevan may increase in the future.
It should be noted that JSC National Company Food Contract Corporation is the national operator in the grain market of Kazakhstan. It ensures food security for the country and stabilizes the domestic grain market, provides financial support to agricultural producers, and is engaged in the export of agricultural products. The Food Contract Corporation implements the state agricultural policy. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the only shareholder.
