ArmInfo. Armenia plans to join the agreement on permissible weights, axle loads, and dimensions of vehicles when driving on the highways of the EAEU states included in the Eurasian Transport Corridors. The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia's Committee on Eurasian and Regional Integration approved the draft agreement submitted by the RA government during its session on November 24.
According to Armen Simonyan, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia, the Armenian Cabinet considers it appropriate to ratify the agreement, which aims to harmonize national legislation with the legislation of EAEU member states and implement internationally recognized standards. Ratification of the document will create a level playing field for Armenian carriers operating along Eurasian transport corridors. The purpose of the agreement is to eliminate barriers to internal trade within the Union related to differences in national requirements for vehicle weight and dimensions. It establishes uniform minimum permissible values for vehicle weight, axle loads, and dimensions for roads within Eurasian transport corridors. Harmonizing standards allows carriers to avoid the need to obtain special permits in countries that previously had lower standards, simplifying and reducing the cost of international transportation.
It should be noted, however, that as of November 2025, the agreement has been signed but has not yet entered into force for all EAEU member states. The agreement is limited to highways officially included in the list of Eurasian transport corridors approved by the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission. It defines specific permissible parameters for various types of vehicles (single vehicles, buses, road trains, etc.).
