ArmInfo. In the Armenian interbank foreign exchange market, dollar transactions declined,  while ruble transactions soared from May 18 to 22, 2026. Euro transactions haven't been conducted for over three months.  Specifically, the trend in dollar transactions reversed from a 45.2% increase to a 74.4% drop, while the trend in ruble transactions reversed from a 23.1% decline to a significant 6.6-fold increase. 

ArmInfo.  U.S. Embassy Yerevan welcomes continued progress in U.S.-Armenia civil nuclear energy cooperation! Experts from Sargent and Lundy are visiting Yerevan May 19-22 to provide continued technical assistance on Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology through the U.S. State Department's Foundational Infrastructure for Responsible Use of Small Modular Reactor Technology (FIRST) program. Sargent and Lundy, working with Armenian officials, completed a pre-feasibility study to assess the  viability of replacing the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP) unit  with advanced U.S. SMR technology.

In the Armenian insurance market, the loss ratio for OSAGO insurance, after declining throughout 2025 from 81.8% to 76.3%, has begun to rise since 2026, reaching 78.2% for January-April (versus 76.1% for the same period in 2025). This is evidenced by data from the Bureau of Motor Insurers of  Armenia.

ArmInfo.  The ExIm information platform has been launched in Armenia. It is designed for individuals engaged in foreign economic activity: importers, exporters, transit operators, as well as individuals conducting transactions for business or personal purposes. ArmInfo.  Armenia has taken steps to address the taxation of dividends received by shareholders of commercial banks. At its session on  May20th, the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Economic Affairs approved amendments to the Tax Code and the Law "On State Duty."

ArmInfo.  To effectively organize the export of aquaculture products from Armenia, particularly fish and fishery products, to European Union countries,  appropriate regulatory  standards will be established by law. At its  May 20 meeting, the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs  approved the amendments to the laws "On Food Safety" and "On State  Control over Food Safety" submitted by the RA government for the  first reading.

ArmInfo.The State Revenue Committee of Armenia is initiating legislative amendments that would increase the threshold for registering a tax offense from the current 10 million drams to 30 million drams. In this regard, amendments are planned to be made to the Tax, Criminal, and Criminal Procedure  Codes, the SRC press service reported.

ArmInfo If Russian gas prices increase, Armenia will not face a severe crisis similar to the 1990s, when the country suffered from rolling blackouts, as stated by Mesrop Mesropyan, Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC), during a press- briefing on May 19.
