Two or three nuclear power units with a capacity of 200 MW each would make it possible to more effectively manage the energy system in Armenia. This was stated at the plenary session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia by  Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) of the Republic of Armenia Garegin Baghramyan.

ArmInfo.The issue of the construction of a new nuclear power unit in Armenia, its combination with the country's energy system, and other technical parameters is under discussion, reads a response of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia signed by Deputy Minister Hakob Vardanyan in response to a request from ArmInfo.

ArmInfo.Armenia will not give up nuclear energy; this is a requirement of the country's Energy  Security Strategy until 2040. UN National Expert on Energy Ara Marjanyan expressed such a belief in a conversation with the ArmInfo correspondent, commenting on yesterday's statement by RA Prime  Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the live broadcast.

ArmInfo. The EU will allocate EUR 2mln to Armenia under the financial agreement "Drawing the  lessons learned from the Fukushima Daiichi accident." At its meeting on November 17, Armenia's Cabinet approved the proposal to sign an agreement between Armenia's Government and the European Commission.

Next year, the implementation of a program to re- extend the operating life of power unit N2 of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant will begin.  Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia Gnel Sanosyan stated on October 31 at the RA NA  Standing Committees discussions on the draft state budget for 2024.

ArmInfo.At a meeting of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, an appeal was made demanding that  the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) take measures regarding the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant in Armenia, located 16 km from the borders of Turkey. This was reported by the Turkish Anadolu Agency.

ArmInfo.On September 14, the Government of Armenia approved the Program for extending the   operational life of Unit 2 at Armenian Nuclear Power Plant CJSC and the Plan for organizing and implementing the activities provided for in the plan.
