ArmInfo. Mineral raw materials account for the lion's share of Armenia's exports, accounting for 28%, while machinery and equipment are the dominant import item, accounting for 27%. The former has seen a sharp acceleration in growth, reaching significant rates, while the latter has moved from stagnation to high double-digit growth. ArmInfo. The Armenian government possesses the necessary legal instruments and grounds to terminate the concession agreement with the Russian Federation concerning Armenia’s railways, but will not resort to such a measure. ArmInfo.  The Central Bank of Armenia has improved its forecast for 2026, expecting a less pronounced slowdown in GDP growth to 5.7-5.3% (versus previously forecast growth of 4.5-4.1% and actual growth of 7.1% in 2025), with a slight change in the pace in 2027 to 5.2% (versus the previously forecast 4.7-3.7%). At the same time, the Central Bank downgraded its forecast for foreign trade, expecting a more pronounced decline in exports and imports in 2026, with a return to moderate growth only in 2027. ArmInfo. Armenia's short-term country risk premium continued to decline, reaching a historically low level. This was stated by Martyn Galstyan, Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia, while presenting the rationale for the Central Bank Board's decision to raise the refinancing rate from 6.5% to 6.75% at a press conference on September 15.

ArmInfo.  Pronounced excess-demand factors prompted the Central Bank of Armenia to raise the refinancing rate. Chairman of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia Martin Galstyan stated this on September 15 during a press conference convened to present the rationale for the decision by the Central Bank Board to raise the key rate from 6.5% to 6.75%, after keeping it unchanged for nine months.

ArmInfo.   Imports of petroleum products into Armenia in H1 2026 decreased by 34.8% year-on-year (compared to 9.2% growth a year earlier), amounting to 159.1 thousand tons. ArmInfo. In the first half of 2026, Armenia accelerated the annual decline in gold exports from 82% to 85.1%, exporting 1.587 thousand kg. According to data from the Customs Service of the Republic of Armenia, the customs value decreased by 80% to $203.7 million.

ArmInfo. Economic processes in Armenia are in line with the RA government's forecasts. This was stated by RA Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan on September 9 at a meeting of the RA National Assembly Committee on Financial, Credit, and Budgetary Affairs during the presentation of the state budget execution report for the first half of 2026.

ArmInfo. In January-July 2026, the EU's share of Armenia's foreign trade increased to 19% (from 12.3% a year ago), while the EAEU's share decreased to 29% (from 36.1% a year ago). According to data from the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, foreign trade turnover with the EU accelerated in year-on-year growth from 9.6% to 57.2%, reaching $2.2 billion, while with the EAEU, it slowed in decline from 51% to 18.4%, amounting to $3.3 billion. Moreover, among the EAEU countries, a decline in volumes was recorded only in the Russian Federation, while most EU countries chose to increase volumes.
