ArmInfo. On January-April 2017 the volume of industrial production of Armenia versus the same period of 2016 grew for 12,9% (versus 10% growth a year ago), forming AMD 485,5 bln. (USD 999,7 mln). And only for April the sector demonstrated a dropdown for 7% - down to AMD 123,6 bln ( USD 211,8 mln). According to Armenian Statistics Service Data, the annual growth of industrial sector is preconditioned with processing industry growth within ongoing growth of mining sector.

ArmInfo. In Jan-Feb 2017 the extent of Armenian industrial production at the same period of 2016 increased by 16.1%( versus 9.9% growth a year ago), totaling 228.4 bln AMD ($469.7mln). Only for February the field registered growth from 10.5% to 120.3 bln AMD ($ 247.3mln). According to the Armenian National Statistic Service data, the growth of industrial sector is based on improvement of movement producing industries at the background of saved growth of mining sector.

ArmInfo. The improvement of
economic situation in Russia will increase migration from Armenia and
migration is expected to considerably grow if Armenia's economy fails
to accelerate its growth rates, Chairman of the Republican Union of
Employers of Armenia Gagik Makaryan said at a press conference.
Makaryan qualified migration as a negative factor but he did not rule
out positive trends stemming from it. "From the economic viewpoint,
movement of labor force is beneficial to Armenia because we will be
unable to reduce unemployment, which has already made up 18% by
official data," he stressed, noting that the given indicator in the
neighboring countries is much lower: in Turkey - 11.8%, in Iran -
11.3%, in Georgia - 12%, in Azerbaijan - 5%.

"One cannot say that light industry in Armenia has died or is dying, but the fact that we have almost ruined the existing potential cannot be denied," Co-Chair of the Armenian Union of Employers of Light Industry, Tosp OJSC Director General Suren Bekirski said in an express interview with ArmInfo on the sidelines of the International Forum of Light Industry in Yerevan, when commenting on the current condition of light industry of Armenia.
