ArmInfo. The Armenian Diaspora of the United States is ready to invest in the technological  development of Armenia. This was announced during an online meeting  of the Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia Robert Khachatryan  with representatives of the Armenian community in the United States:

ArmInfo.The final stage of DigiCode 2023 Youth National Applied Programming Contest will be launched on April 29, from 11:00 to 17:00 at the American University of Armenia. Over 20 teams will partake in the finals. The teams will present projects ranging from physical and mathematical modeling to smart cribs and smart home security systems.

ArmInfo. Today, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan left for Tavush Province on a working visit. During the consultation held in Ijevan city, the Prime Minister was presented with the performance report 2022 of the regional administration,the Premier's press service reports.

ArmInfo. As part of the EU4Business initiative the EU launched in Armenia in July 2021, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Armenian  financial institutions signed EUR 30mln credit lines, Lilit Gharayan  Team Leader EU4Business- EBRD Credit Line Armenia, said at the forum  entitled "EU4Business-EBRD Credit Line in Armenia - Impact to date  and Way Ahead" on April 14.  

ArmInfo. Today, Armenia became an official donor to the World Bank's International Development Association (IDA) with a paid-in contribution of $1 million, the WB  Armenian office reports.

ArmInfo.Armenian Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan urged the business community not to be afraid to take risks and make full use of government preferences. Speaking today at a logistics conference organized by CDEK, he noted that the country continues to  show impressive economic growth (10.9% in the first two months of  this year), while there is a significant reduction in inflation.

ArmInfo.Further depreciation of the ruble will lead to the loss of competitiveness of goods of Armenian origin in the Russian market and a decrease in the pace of economic  activity in Armenia. Economist Suren Parsyan expressed this opinion  in an interview with ArmInfo.

ArmInfo. Russian resettlers, whose number in Armenia, according to various sources, is estimated from 80 to 100 thousand people, not only contributed to high "statistical" economic growth and low "estimated" inflation in the country, but also made it possible to significantly strengthen the resources of the Armenian banking system.  However, Armenia, having benefited from both people and capital, has appeared under the powerful sanctions lens of the Western countries, which is seriously concerned about the possibility of circumvention of anti-Russian sanctions by countries friendly or neutral to Russia. Armenian banks were immediately warned that they must strictly follow the international regulations against the legalization of proceeds from crime (money laundering) and put up serious barriers to clients' attempts to circumvent anti-Russian sanctions in the course of trading activities.  By and large, by March last year, Armenian banks were not ready for such a turn, and therefore they began to actively implement the so-called compliance control and its tough “barrier” tools.

ArmInfo.Armenia continues the negotiations over the attraction of funds of the declared 2.6bln Euros for implementing a number of infrastructures projects, Armenia's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Paruyr Hovhannisyan stated at a meeting of the Standing Committee on European Integration, RA Parliament.

ArmInfo.Yerevan hosts the second meeting of the Intergovernmental Working Group on Drought (IWG on drought) and a regional capacity building workshop to develop an effective policy within the framework of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
