ArmInfo.The depreciatory indications of the Armenian dram have sharply lowered the interest to the currency transactions at the stock exchange and Interbank Currency Exchange. During the period of August 10 - 14 the volume of the currency transactions have dropped almost three times at NASDAQ OMX Armenia, but exceeding the volume of the Interbank Currency Exchange for more than twice, which demonstrated growth for 23.1%. Finally, the depreciation of the AMD seen in July within the range of AMD 474 to AMD 478/USD 1, after insignificant fluctuations reached the threshold of AMD 479/USD 1 in the first half of August.
The press office of the Central Bank of Armenia has told ArmInfo that on Aug 10-14, the transactions on NASDAQ OMX Armenia amounted to $9.740 mln at the average exchange rate of 478,60 AMD/$1. The biggest amount of the transactions was registered on Thursday $4.770 mln. The stock exchange was not working the whole week: it was empty on Tuesday and Wednesday. On the interbank market the USD transactions amounted to $4.8 mln at the average exchange rate of 478,78 AMD/$1.
On Aug 10-14, on the intrabank market (transactions with customers) the banks bought $74.9 mln at the average exchange rate of 477,62 AMD/$1 (almost 13% fall within a week), and sold $81.03 mln at the average exchange rate of 479 AMD/$1 (almost 23.5% fall within a week). The banks also bought 8.1 mln EUR at the average exchange rate of 524,24 AMD/1EUR (weekly growth of 21%), and sold 11.03 mln EUR at the average exchange rate of 528,51 AMD/1EUR (11.3% fall within a week). Over the same period, the banks bought 954.6 mln RUR at the average exchange rate of 7,37 AMD/1RUR (weekly growth of 3.4%), and sold 270.5 mln RUR at the rate of 7,52 AMD/1RUR (12% fall within a week). Over the previous week (from Aug 2 - 9), the Armenian banks provided AMD loans worth 33 bln AMD and USD loans worth $54.1 mln. As compared to the previous week July 27- August 2, the AMD loans decreased for 16% whereas USD loans declined twice.
