ArmInfo.Further process of drawing closer to the EU threatens Armenia with a complete halt to supplies of gas, oil products, and diamonds from Russia. According to Kommersant, Moscow now considers the duty-free regime for these goods granted in 2013 impossible and is threatening Yerevan with freezing  or denunciation of bilateral agreements.

ArmInfo. In Armenia, the industrial price index increased from 102% to 108.9% in January-April 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. This was observed against the backdrop of an improvement in the annual dynamics of the industrial sector, from a 16.1% decline to a 13% increase, achieving a volume of 1.003 trillion drams ($2.7 billion).

ArmInfo. In the Armenian interbank foreign exchange market, dollar transactions declined,  while ruble transactions soared from May 18 to 22, 2026. Euro transactions haven't been conducted for over three months.  Specifically, the trend in dollar transactions reversed from a 45.2% increase to a 74.4% drop, while the trend in ruble transactions reversed from a 23.1% decline to a significant 6.6-fold increase.

Experts from Sargent and Lundy are visiting Yerevan May 19-22 to provide continued technical assistance on Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology through the U.S. State Department's Foundational Infrastructure for Responsible Use of Small Modular Reactor Technology (FIRST) program. Sargent and Lundy, working with Armenian officials, completed a pre-feasibility study to assess the  viability of replacing the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP) unit  with advanced U.S. SMR technology.
